2007 was a busy year for the LOV team, with six courses in London and at the West Dean College nr Chichester in West Sussex.
Our principal courses at the National Opera Studio involved over 50 singers from all parts of the UK as well a superb teaching team with special masterclass guest Justin Lavender for our October Opera weekend (as part of the 2007 Wandsworth Arts Festival).
The Summer Opera course offered production staged scenes from Britten’s ‘The Beggar’s Opera’ and a piece devised especially for the course about the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart called ‘Mozart’s Ladies’. Our tutorial team included Staurt Wild, Pam Smith, Kelvin Lim, Liz Rowe, Jane Streeton and Caroline Jaya Ratnam.
The October Opera weekend undertook a selection of extracts from Massenet’s version of Manon and an Ealing Comedy version of the 3rd Act of Albert Herring by Britten. Justin Lavender’s popular and creative masterclass was a true highlight of the weekend.
