Summer Opera 2008
At the National Opera Studio
30th July – 3rd August
Our new updated site has all the news of our most recent courses as well as photos of the course production scenes. The 2008 Summer Opera course at the National Opera Studio was attended by 25 singers (from those just beginning their operatic journey to established professionals working on new roles). Our teaching team included Stuart Wild (working on the ‘Swedish Nightingale’ production) and Kelvin Lim (Musical Director of ‘Die Walkure’). Our tutorial team was completed with the assistance of coaches Caroline Jaya Ratnam, Liz Rowe, Richard Shaw and Benjamin Frost, and technical vocal tutorials by Jane Streeton. Staged Scenes were directed by Susan Stacey assisted by Ian Massa Harris, Michaela Korte and Grit Brunssen. Michaela Korte also assisted with the German language pronouciation for the Wagner Scene.
We welcomed three Associate conductors to the week’s courses; Ryan Ho, Steven Ellery and William Carslake, who were invaluable in their conducting, prompting and coaching of various elements of the staged scenes.
Singers included; Judyth Aarons, Charlotte Aslin, Sylvia Bisset, Simon Carbery, Melinda Cherrett, Leonie Cormack, Theresa Goble, Laura Honey, Laura Hudson, Naomi Hyamson, Anna Kirby, Claire Lapworth, Tamira Mander- Lynskey, Kate McLaren, Kate Marshall, Emma Noakes, Janet Oates, Jill Ody, Ian Wilson-Pope, Nichola Ross, Manuella Schuette, Zoe South, Fredrica Teale, Paula Wall and Emma Watkinson.
